Lyceum began its history in 1960, when it was Secondary School1, which educated students up to grade 8. Then, with the reform of the education system, the school became a comprehensive school, i.e. grades 9, 10, 11 were added. Since 2022, the school has been renamed Novi Petrivtsi Lyceum.
Although the institution has a long history, today it is a modern, renovated educational space for 700 students. In recent years, interactive whiteboards have been installed in classrooms, material and technical facilities have been updated, a safety class has been created, and the library collection is constantly updated.
Unfortunately, due to the martial law in Ukraine, our lyceum has been operating remotely since 2022. In the spring of 2024, the lyceum was visited by representatives of the Belgian company Enabel, which donated the construction of a shelter in our institution. Therefore, from 2025, lyceum students will study full-time.
Our students are winners of various competitions, subject competitions, and the Junior Academy of Sciences' research paper defence competition. In 2024, the lyceum team took part in the Destination Imagination International Creativity Olympiad and the Genius Olimpiad International Competition for Eco-projects. In 2024, the Novopetrivsk Lyceum launched the Step by Step Euroclub, which is part of the Ukrainian Euroclub network.
The school's student self-government is of a high level. Every year in autumn, the school president is elected.
The village of Novi Petrivtsi is a suburb of Kyiv (13 km from the capital). It is a beautiful village that has had its infrastructure upgraded in recent years: high-rise buildings, supermarkets, a small shopping centre, etc. Famous attractions: 1) Mezhyhiria National Park - the former residence of the President of Ukraine, today it is a large park open to visitors, with a mini-zoo, a golf course, lakes, a museum of old cars and much more; 2) Savka Farm, an open-air ethnographic museum. This is a manor house with Ukrainian life and belongings, pets, and a vegetable garden; 3) an ancient spring dating back to the times of the Kyiv-Mezhyrskyi Transfiguration Monastery, the Dzvonkova Krynytsia; 4) the National Museum-Reserve of Ukrainian Military Victory, a place where information about World War II is collected, namely material items from the Battle of Kyiv in 1944, and the museum also provides information about the period of the ATO and the full-scale invasion.
We are looking for friends to create joint projects to spread information about the country's culture, language and history. We are also looking for friends to create a joint international reading club to promote Ukrainian and Polish authors. We are interested in joint leisure activities: live meetings, excursions, and travel.
