The Association for Combating Information Isolation “ECOU” is a non-governmental, non-political and non-profit organization that strengthens participatory democracy and civic engagement in southern Moldova. ECOU creates opportunities for citizens, public authorities and civil society organizations to work together for community development through seminars, training sessions, public consultations, participatory budgeting initiatives, social theatre and cultural projects. The Association promotes access to public-interest information, transparent decision-making and citizen participation in local policymaking. Across its programes, ECOU encourages the active involvement of young people and women, gender equality and the inclusion of vulnerable groups. Its cross-cutting areas include cybersecurity, information integrity, countering disinformation and developing digital skills, helping to build informed, responsible and resilient communities.
